Nainital is a popular hill station of Uttarakhand state of India. This is also headquarters of Nainital district of uttarakhand state in the Shivalik foothills of the outer Himalayas. Nainital is situated at an altitude of 1,938 metres (6,358 ft) above sea level. Nainital is set in a valley contain a pear -shaped lake named NAINI, something like two miles in periphery. Naini lake is encircled by mountains, of which the highest are Ayarpatha (2,277 m) on the south, Deopatha (2,437 m) on the west and Naina (2,614 m) on the north. From the tops of the upper peaks glorious views can be feel of the gigantic plain to the south, or of the mass of snarled ridges lying north, encircled by the enormous snow-white range which forms the middle axis of the Himalayas. Corbett National Park is a popular wildlife destination near Nainital at a distance of 54 Kms.
